Short Story - The War Within

Remember the first beat we battled those bastards? We were lying on the cold, disconsolate jungle floor in front of the fire. The trees looked alike charcoaled versions of their sidereal day selves as our faces were aglow with waver orange. We heard movement in the dry leaves. It was dense to be stealthy over the crunchy wood floor. We scatter into the inexorableness for cover.
